Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR, offered by EMDRIA-trained therapist Claire Thomas at Florescence Counseling LLC, is a comprehensive, holistic, somatic, and extensively evidence-based treatment approach that goes beyond bilateral stimulation or eye movements. EMDR therapy consists of a structured, multi-phase process, facilitating healing for individuals who have experienced trauma, have CPTSD/PTSD, anxiety, depression, a history of substance use disorder/addiction, or other distressing events.

EMDR encompasses eight distinct phases, beginning with history-taking and preparation to build resilience and coping strategies. The core phases involve the identification of traumatic memories and the use of bilateral stimulation to reprocess and alleviate emotional distress. The process also addresses negative beliefs, and physical sensations, and culminates in reevaluation.

Claire's EMDRIA training in EMDR ensures a well-rounded therapeutic experience, providing clients with a comprehensive approach to healing and emotional well-being. By addressing not only the cognitive but also somatic and emotional aspects of trauma, EMDR offers a more holistic path to recovery and personal growth, supported by a wealth of empirical evidence.
